„I found myself in Spain, playing to pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago night after night with a beautiful old Spanish guitar. Between not having played in months and the neck being too wide I decided to spend the last of my money on my little acoustic. From that point on I knew I had to travel with the guitar and would be depending upon it to make my living as I moved.“ Gesagt, getan: Und so hat er sich mit Gitarre und Fahrrad auf den Weg gemacht um live zu spielen.

„Preferably not the news. The news makes me too angry or depressed. I’d love to write a couple of great protest songs about everything that’s going on all over the world at the minute, but there’s just so much I get too angry to put words together in any kind of sensible order. So I stick to what I know. The world around me, where I’ve been, what I’ve seen, learned and heard. I just tell my truth.“ Erfrischend ehrliche Worte. „The audience makes or breaks it. I think everyone may feel as though they depend upon me to make the evening, but I depend upon them too. I never write a set list for a show, because I read the crowd to guage the mood and play around that, so every evening is different.“ Also ab mit euch ins 25hours, um gemeinsam einen unvergesslichen Abend zu kreieren.

Joseph Robinson – Tin Man falls

„The audience can expect a handful of fucking fantastic songs with strong grooves that are almost fast enough to dance to, and interesting lyrics that will hopefully be audible. I’m also performing with a band, so if you prefer the perfection of playback to some organic happening in time and space, please stay at home.“ Ein Mann, eine Ansage. Doch was inspiriert Joseph Robinson zu seiner tanzbaren Musik? Alles und nichts wäre die schnelle Antwort, die interessantere ist: „ Inspiration is one of god’s great mysteries … I mean, one moment you’re just stuck in a loop, drinking coffee, beating your head against a wall, and then something amazing happens. Where does that come from? I don’t really know, but when I’m present, like really there, this seems to happen more often. But sometimes it comes after a night of partying, or seeing a show, or lying in the park, or listening to something, or just a good conversation. The only formula I’ve come up with is: get to WORK!“

„Tin Man, a rusted metal dude who doesn’t have a heart, which has proved to be a rather powerful and enduring metaphor for me. While the ultimate meaning of this heartlessness is open to interpretation, for me it represents someone – a man in this case – who is fundamentally divorced from his truth. And why? Because for a long time, I was such a man, shuffling through my life, animated by a hidden ball of darkness of which I was totally ignorant. To make a very long story short, one day my Tin Man rather abruptly fell apart, and as I began to comprehend that I was at the bottom of a well and that the well was not the universe, all I wanted to do was sing. So this name is mainly a testament to my life and the birth of this project, but it’s also a hope! Like ‚may your tin man fall … shit will get messy, but no birth is beautiful, and anyways: life is worth it.“ Das nennen wir ehrliche Worte und uns bleibt an dieser Stelle nur noch zu sagen: Wer die Musik von diesem spannenden Musiker live sehen möchte, der sollte heute in den 25hours Dachboden pilgern.
